Health & Welfare Benefits Booklet

» Introduction To Your Welfare Plan «

This web site and electronic booklet describes the health and welfare benefits provided by the Indiana State District Council of Laborers and Hod Carriers Welfare Fund.

As an active plan participant, you’re entitled to medical coverage, loss of time coverage, and life and AD&D insurance coverage. The medical plan pays the major portion of expenses when you (or a dependent) are injured or sick. Loss of time coverage continues part of your pay if you’re unable to work because of occupational or total disability. The life and AD&D insurance plans can pay benefits if you should die or become seriously injured.

The benefits program covers persons who work for a participating employer under a collective bargaining agreement negotiated by the Laborers International Union of North America State of Indiana District Council.

The Plan is maintained and administered by a Board of Trustees on which labor and management are equally represented. A list of the trustees is in the "Board of Trustees" section of this web site, as well as in the "Administrative Information" section towards the end of the booklet.

This web site and booklet describes and summarizes, in layman’s language, the legal documents that govern the Plan. If anything has been misstated accidentally or left out, the legal documents will rule.
